The second round of group stage matches in the XXIII World Cup continues.
Medianews.az reports that on June 22, in Group G, New Zealand will face Egypt; in Group H, Uruguay will play against Cape Verde; and in Group J, Argentina will compete with Austria.
The matches will kick off at the following times according to Baku time:
02:00 Uruguay - Cape Verde
05:00 New Zealand - Egypt
21:00 Argentina - Austria
The championship, held since June 11 in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, features 48 teams. The teams are divided into 12 groups. The top two teams from each group and the 8 best third-placed teams will qualify for the Round of 16.
When points are equal, the result of the match between the teams is taken as the main criterion. The other criteria are: goal difference, number of goals scored, fewest official warnings (yellow and red cards), and the team’s current position in the FIFA ranking.
The group stage ends on June 28. The Round of 16 is scheduled for June 28 - July 4, the Round of 8 for July 4-7, the Quarterfinals for July 9-12, the Semifinals for July 14-15, and the third-place match and the final are set for July 19.
