Proper storage of products in the freezer storage rules

Proper storage of products in the freezer is of great importance both for preserving their taste and nutritional value, and it also positively affects the family budget.

Medianews.az reports, citing Foodinfo.az, that according to chef Dmitri Usenko, the freezing process should be carried out by following hygienic rules and proper packaging. Products should be stored separately in clean bags or containers to prevent mixing.

The expert states that the storage duration of each product in the freezer is different. For example, bread can be stored for about 1 month, vegetables up to 1 year, and fruits for 8–12 months. Fish should be used within 3–6 months, meat for 2–9 months, and semi-finished products and poultry for about 3 months.

Some important points for proper freezing are also noted. It is advised to write the name and date of the product on the packaging to make it easier to monitor the storage period. Some vegetables, especially cabbage, carrot, and eggplant products, should be partially cooked before freezing.

Vegetables and fruits with high water content should mostly be frozen in pureed form. It is advisable to cut fruits into convenient portions for use, while berries can be stored whole.

It is essential to minimize the contact of meat and fish products with air. This prevents their oxidation and helps preserve both their appearance and taste.
