The court hearing regarding the appeal protest filed by the state prosecutor against the verdict concerning Zamiq Yusifov (name and surname are conditional), who is accused of fraud, has concluded at the Baku Court of Appeal.
Medianews.az Reports, citing Pravda.az, that the decision was announced during the hearing chaired by Judge Zamin Ibrahimov.
According to the decision, the appeal protest has been partially upheld, and the verdict of the Yasamal District Court has been altered in relation to the appeal protest. Based on clauses 2.6, 5.2.2, and 5.3 of the National Assembly's Decision dated December 19, 2025, on declaring amnesty in connection with the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty," the accused person has been released from the sentence of restriction of liberty for a term of 2 years and 6 months imposed by the Yasamal District Court.
According to the accusation, the accused person, with the intention of greed, abused the trust of the victim, Gunay Samedova (name and surname are conditional), whom he knew.
Specifically, Zamiq Yusifov falsely informed the woman that he was suffering from cancer and that money was needed for treatment. Based on these excuses, the victim was deceived. On various dates—from March 5 to August 30, 2024—the victim transferred a total of 27,055 manats to the accused's account through mobile banking applications and payment post terminals.
According to the court investigations, Zamiq Yusifov spent these funds on his personal needs, causing significant financial harm to the victim.
The court of the first instance reduced the charge of 27,055 manats presented by the preliminary investigation body to 9,225 manats and decided that Zamiq caused damage amounting to 17,830 manats to Gunay.
In his court statement, Zamiq Yusifov stated that although he was married and had two children, he told the victim, whom he knew, that he was single and that he would start a family with her.
