Military personnel will have their own personal token - LAW

The legislation includes the concept of "personal dog tag of military servicemen"

Medianews.az reports that this is reflected in the proposed amendment to the "Military Duty and Military Service" law discussed at the National Assembly meeting held today.

According to the draft, a personal dog tag is an insignia used to identify military servicemen who have died, are deceased, or have suffered injuries (wounds, trauma, contusion), reflecting the individual identification number and blood type. Military servicemen are provided with personal dog tags by the state bodies (institutions included in the structure of the state body) where they serve the military service. The provision of personal dog tags to military servicemen, as well as the description, characteristics, and record-keeping procedure of the personal dog tag, are determined by the body (institution) designated by the relevant executive authority.

It is noted that military servicemen face various risks while performing their service duties. Due to their service activities, during combat operations and other emergencies, they may die or sustain injuries (wounds, trauma, contusion, disfigurement, etc.). In such cases, it is of vital importance to quickly identify the servicemen and provide timely and proper medical care (especially regarding the availability of information about blood type). In this regard, there is a necessity to use the method of personal identification, widely applied and proven effective in international practice, for military servicemen. To resolve this issue, it is proposed to add the concept of "Personal Dog Tag" and usage regulations to the legislation.

After discussions, the draft law was put to a vote and adopted at the first reading.
