Colombian President Gustavo Petro narrowly escaped a possible assassination attempt.
Medianews.az, citing local media, reports that he gave this information during a Cabinet meeting.
The President stated that on Monday, while traveling by helicopter to the Caribbean coast, intelligence information was received about a planned attack. After that, the crew urgently changed the route and moved towards open sea. Petro said this decision saved his life.
The head of state did not disclose the names of the person or groups planning the attack.
Petro, who has been in office since 2022, had previously stated that he had been targeted by drug cartels and armed groups.
An investigation is ongoing regarding this matter.
