In his address, Khamenei emphasizes that the Persian Gulf, through the Strait of Hormuz and the Sea of Oman, holds strategic importance for the global economy and states that this region has historically stirred the greed of foreign powers and has been subjected to various interventions.
The address claims that the Iranian people have shown “the greatest sacrifices” in defending the independence of the Persian Gulf and in the struggle against foreign interventions. It also notes that, against the backdrop of recent military and political tensions in the region, “a new phase has begun.”
According to the Iranian leader, over many years, the peoples of the region have been accustomed to foreign pressures and political silence, “but recently, the activities of the Iranian Army and the naval forces of the IRGC have demonstrated that resistance to foreign hegemony is possible.”
The address harshly criticizes the U.S. military presence in the region and claims that this presence “cannot ensure security.” Khamenei states that the existence of foreign military bases in the Persian Gulf serves instability, not stability in the region.
The Supreme Leader of Iran claims that the future of the Persian Gulf will be shaped without foreign powers, emphasizing that the fates of the peoples of the region are “interconnected” and that there is no need for the presence of external forces in the region.
