Warning from experts: Fasting to lose weight is not correct

Experts state that strict and low-calorie diets applied for rapid weight loss can have the opposite effect and make the process more difficult.

Medianews.az reports that Turkish dietitian Banu Doğanlar says the idea that "one cannot lose weight without starving" is wrong.

Healthy weight loss is possible by consuming slightly fewer calories than the body’s needs.

Long-term starvation and very low food intake slow down metabolism, resulting in increased cravings for sweets and uncontrolled eating. This also slows down the weight loss process.

Habits not taken into account in daily life – additional snacks, low water intake, inactivity, and lack of portion control – hinder weight loss.

Poor nutrition, especially a diet low in protein and fiber, causes blood sugar fluctuations and frequent hunger. Stress and insomnia also intensify this feeling.

Experts recommend including protein, fiber, and healthy fats in every meal. Adequate water intake and regular physical activity are also considered important.

Short-term strict diets do not produce lasting results. Long-term and healthy weight loss is only possible with balanced nutrition and a proper lifestyle.
