The next presidential elections in Kazakhstan will be held in 2029 in accordance with the dates determined by the current Constitution. AZERTAC, citing the Akorda press service, reported that Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated this at a briefing held after the referendum voting.
In response to a question about the constitutional reform being a preparation for a transfer of power, the head of state said: “There is no reason to fear that this will have a negative impact on society. The creation of the vice-presidential position will strengthen state power institutions, and this will show itself in the future. As President, I have great hopes for this position as well as for all the reforms in general.”
The next presidential elections will be held as planned, on the date determined by the current Constitution — in 2029.
