In Mukdahan province in northeastern Thailand, 8 people died and 13 were seriously injured as a result of a pickup truck striking a group of monks.

Rescuers, police, and emergency medical service workers were dispatched to the scene. The bodies of the monks were found on and beside the road. Five of the monks died at the scene, and three died later in the hospital. The 13 injured monks were taken to the nearest hospital.
