More than 50,000 people are missing after the earthquake in Venezuela.

This was stated by Tom Fletcher, the Deputy Secretary-General of the UN for Humanitarian Affairs.

"This is an extremely complex rescue operation. More than 50,000 people are missing, over 500 people have died, which is why clearing the rubble is a huge task," he added.

"Agence France-Presse" (AFP) reported that everywhere there are destroyed buildings and huge piles of debris. Families continue to search for people who may still be trapped under the rubble.

An earthquake occurred in Venezuela on the evening of June 24. Two shocks with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 were recorded approximately 40 seconds apart. Their epicenters were located 10 kilometers apart in Yaracuy state. After the earthquake, 214 aftershocks were recorded. According to the latest information, 589 people have died and approximately 3,000 have been injured in Venezuela./Report
