Although US-Iran talks have progressed, tensions remain around the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. and Iranian officials have reported certain progress in the talks, but major disagreements remain unresolved, including issues related to the nuclear program and the situation around the Strait of Hormuz.

Medianews.az- citing "Report.az", stated that Iran's chief negotiator said that progress was made in the latest consultations with the U.S. side, but significant gaps remain on a number of fundamental issues.

In turn, U.S. President Donald Trump described the dialogue with Tehran as "very good talks" by both sides. He also stated that Washington is not willing to accept pressures related to threats around the strategically important sea route.

The parties have not disclosed specific details of the negotiation process. The statements were made amid ongoing uncertainty just a few days before the fragile ceasefire in the U.S.-Israel war ends.

The armed conflict, now in its eighth week, has caused thousands of deaths, Israel's attacks on Lebanon, and a sharp rise in oil prices. The effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, through which about one-fifth of the world's oil supply passed before the war, is adding additional pressure on global markets.
