23 citizens of Azerbaijan from Syria returned

As a result of phased and coordinated measures taken by the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on June 7, 9, and 11 of the current year, the repatriation of 23 citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan (7 women and 16 children) from the Syrian Arab Republic to our country was carried out.

Medianews.az reports that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan made this announcement.

In the initial phase of the repatriation process, the location, identity, and citizenship of the repatriates were determined. Our Embassies of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Syrian Arab Republic and the Republic of Turkey, including the Consulate General in Istanbul, provided relevant coordination work whereby our citizens were given “Certificates of Return to the Republic of Azerbaijan” and airplane tickets.

Members of the Working Group composed of state bodies responsible for the repatriation of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who have faced crisis situations abroad were sent to Syria, where preliminary medical and psychological examinations of the repatriates were conducted.

It is planned to carry out relevant measures for the social rehabilitation and reintegration of the repatriates in our country into society.

The necessary measures for the repatriation of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who have become victims of armed conflict on the territory of foreign countries will continue to be taken.
