"Some climate policies increase the number of poor people"

"Slovakia's relations with Azerbaijan are excellent." Medianews.az reports that this was stated by Slovakia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment Tomas Taraba in an interview with journalists within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku.

He noted that climate issues are a priority for Slovakia: "International cooperation is essential to solving problems such as climate change because no country can handle it alone."

Tomas Taraba emphasized that urbanization is under pressure from new standards and Slovakia believes that some climate policies may lead to increased poverty worldwide: "We can only solve this problem together. Today, urbanization is under heavy pressure from new standards. We are rapidly increasing standards in the European Union. But Slovakia is a country based on sound thinking. We clearly state that not every solution is necessarily correct. Because some climate policies raise the number of poor people in the world."
