The labor market is one of the key indicators reflecting the economic development and the direction of labor resources in every country. In Azerbaijan, recent economic changes, the expansion of digitalization, and the rapid development of the service sector have significantly changed the demands of employers. As a result of this process, the demand for some professions has increased while the weight of others has relatively decreased. For this reason, the question of which sectors are most in demand in the labor market remains relevant both for job seekers and for young people planning their careers.
Regarding the topic, education expert Elchin Efendi told Democrat.az that currently, the most in-demand specialties in the country's labor market are pedagogical specialties, healthcare specialties, including economic specialties:
"There is also demand for specialties related to sports and agriculture. These areas are currently more needed. Next in line are information technology fields, that is, areas related to computer science. Therefore, if applicants study more in these directions, they can start their work life more easily in the labor market and feel more comfortable in labor relations.
Accordingly, applications for the specialties listed in groups I, II, III, IV, and V have generally increased in recent years. It is no coincidence that, for example, this year, more than 2,000 applicants have applied to be admitted to economic specialties. An increase of over 1,000 has been observed in the first group as well. All these indicate that the demand in the labor market is high exactly for these sectors and mentioned specialty directions," he noted.
In other words, so that finding a job in the labor market does not become a problem, applicants and students should give preference to pedagogy, medicine, economics, and IT fields when making their choices, because currently companies and government agencies are looking for personnel mostly in these fields.
