Now, goods sent from Turkey to Armenia through third countries can list Armenia as the destination and Turkey as the country of origin. This news has been officially confirmed by both the Turkish and Armenian sides.
So, what does this mean? How was it until now?
Medianews.az reports that Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan clarified the issue in a conversation with journalists.
He said that since there has been no possibility of direct export from Turkey to Armenia until now, the process was carried out as follows: for example, the cargo was transported by land to Georgia as an export, where it was officially cleared through customs, and the goods were recorded as exports from Georgia to Armenia, not from Turkey. In other words, legally, Armenia imported the goods from Georgia, not from Turkey.
According to the minister, this caused additional financial costs and increased the production cost of Turkish products in Armenia. Therefore, Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized his belief that the prices of goods imported from Turkey would decrease in Armenia from now on.
