Stationary telephone communication is coming to an end in Finland.
Medianews.az reports that from July 1, the last telecommunications company operating in the country has also discontinued stationary telephone line services for both individuals and corporate customers.
According to the information, new connection contracts were stopped several years ago. At the beginning of the current year, the operator had only a few thousand active stationary connections remaining.
Previously, two of the country's largest telecommunications companies had shut down their stationary networks. One gave up this technology in 2019, and the other at the beginning of 2026.
Thus, Finland has fully bid farewell to stationary telephone communication used since the late 19th century, becoming one of the countries to completely switch to mobile and internet technologies.
It should be noted that this communication system had been used in Finland for more than 100 years.//Publika.az
