Spanish doctor Antonio Ernandes has warned that fragmented sleep – that is, frequent awakenings from micro-sleeps – can reduce a person's lifespan by an average of 7 years.
Medianews.az reports that according to the specialist, during such sleep the body's recovery is weakened. One of the main reasons is eating a late dinner. After eating, the body focuses on the digestion process, which can cause heartburn and difficulty breathing.
Ernandes also mentioned that among other factors, uncomfortable temperature in the bedroom and the use of electronic devices in the evening hours disrupt sleep.
Experts say that healthy and uninterrupted sleep is one of the main conditions for longevity.
