Shakira has decided to openly talk about the heartbreak she experienced after her ex-lover Gerard Pique's betrayal allegations at the end of 2021.
"When life puts me to the test, I always thought I was more fragile and weak than I actually am," the artist confessed in an interview with People magazine, according to Milli.Az.
The singer's 11-year relationship, which ended in 2022, inspired her hit "Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53" a year later. The song mocking the betrayal of the footballer, who ended his career, became the Grammy-winning singer's first top 10 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in ten years.
"It was a cathartic clean water. I had to write about what I was going through and do it without any censorship," Shakira reflects.
She added that writing songs for her “is like going to a therapist, only cheaper.”
Shakira, who has two sons—13-year-old Milan and 11-year-old Sasha—with Pique, recalled how the support of her friends and family saved her after her lover's betrayal.
"Life is a bastard, but it is definitely worth living because you always have friends by your side," she remarked, thinking about overcoming romantic dramas.
The singer emphasized the importance of being grateful for all life lessons: "Even for the people who leave marks on your body and soul. In the end, they just make us better."
After separating from the athlete, the mother of two found strength to move forward for the sake of her sons.
"When your familiar world falls apart, you still have to get up in the morning, pay the bills, prepare breakfast, and take the kids to school. Life must go on," Shakira shared, adding that "motherhood makes a woman strong." "Since I became a mother, I have looked at the world from a completely different perspective. My children are not only the best thing that has happened to me, but I also learn something from them every day."
Although rumors of romantic relationships between Shakira and NBA player Jimmy Butler and Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton surfaced in tabloids earlier, the pop diva is now completely happy with the two most important men in her life—her sons.
"Right now, all my thoughts are focused on raising my children. I don't see myself in a new relationship yet. Maybe when they grow up," the singer admitted.
It should be recalled that the famous mother and her sons have already moved from Spain to Miami. (lent.az)
