Visa has been issued for the participation of Iran's national football team in the 2026 World Cup.
Medianews.az reports that the Iranian ambassador to Turkey, Mohammad Hasan Habibollahzadeh, made this statement.
According to him, as a result of coordination between Tehran's embassy in Ankara and the Mexican embassy, on June 3, visas were provided to the players, technical, and administrative staff of the Iranian national team for participation in the 2026 World Cup:
"According to the agreement reached, the procedure for issuing Mexican visas was exceptionally carried out at the Mexican embassy without the presence of national team members at the Mexican embassy in Ankara and without taking fingerprints. This step was taken to facilitate the process of sending the Iranian national team to the 2026 World Cup and within the framework of close cooperation between the Iranian and Mexican embassies in Ankara."
The ambassador said that the national team is in the final stage of preparation at the training camp in Antalya, Turkey:
"It is very important not to have the need to travel back and forth to Ankara and for the national team to focus on daily training and preparation for the friendly match against the Mali team to be held on June 4."
It should be noted that the 48-team 2026 World Cup will be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19. The Iranian national team is placed in Group G alongside Belgium, Egypt, and New Zealand.
There were problems in issuing US and Mexican visas to players and coaching staff for the Iranian team's participation in the World Cup. The Iranian delegation needs multiple-entry visas because it will be traveling between countries during the tournament.//Bakues.az
