"They neither gave Rasimə bread nor water, they didn't even let her sleep."

The new episode of Baku TV's "Retro Baku" program is dedicated to the prominent actor, People's Artist Rasim Balayev.

Actress, People's Artist Khalida Guliyeva spoke about the difficult shooting process Rasim Balayev experienced in the film "Nasimi":

"We went to the city of Khiva in Uzbekistan. The execution scene of Nasimi was to be shot there. That day, Rasim was not ready for that condition. He had to experience the pain felt when the skin is peeled off, but it did not work out. They said we would shoot the next day. The next day, Rasim was not given bread, water, or tea. They even did not allow him to sleep. Someone was kept with him to keep him awake until morning. In the film, he played both Nasimi and his son. That was a very interesting discovery."

Rasim Balayev's son, Ulvi Balayev, spoke about the actor's illness:

"It was lung cancer. We found out about it late. Immediate intervention was made, surgery was performed. But later, since we did not know how to proceed, he received chemotherapy once, and this caused complications to his other organs."

Actress, People's Artist Hamida Omarova stated that the artist's illness remained hidden for a long time:

"Look at what a great person he was, he was seriously ill and bedridden for two years. And we thought he only had a leg problem."

His cameraman friend Paramiz Mammadov also spoke about the actor's last days:

"Doctors told me that he did not have a serious problem. But the late actor himself said that his immunity had dropped to zero. There was no resistance left in the body. He could not endure the severity of the treatments."/baku.tv
