On June 23, the average temperature in France was 29.8 degrees. This is the highest average recorded in the country since 1947. The previous record was set in 2019: 29.4 degrees.

Medianews.az reports that due to the intense heat, a red alert has been declared in 54 regions of the country.

According to the French Meteorological Service (Météo-France), on June 23, the temperature in the town of Pissos reached 44.3 degrees, and in the city of Bordeaux, it reached 42.1 degrees.

The night temperature also rose to a record level, averaging 21.6 degrees across the country.

Due to the hot weather, the number of people entering uncontrolled water bodies to cool off has increased. Sébastien Lecornu stated that since June 18, 40 people, mostly young, have drowned and lost their lives.

It has been noted that the record heat has also affected the operation of tourist sites. The Eiffel Tower closes to visitors every day at 4:00 p.m. The Louvre Museum will also change its schedule until Saturday by closing at 4:00 p.m.
