In 2025, a total of 15,144 people were registered with a newly diagnosed malignant neoplasm for the first time.
Medianews.az reports that this information was provided by the State Statistics Committee in response to an inquiry from Modern.az.
According to the data, among the patients diagnosed for the first time, 6,787 were men and 8,357 were women.
By specific localizations, the number of patients newly registered were 237 for oral cavity and pharynx cancer, 21 for lip cancer, 463 for esophageal cancer, and 1,392 for stomach cancer.
Additionally, 832 cases were recorded for malignant neoplasms of the rectum, the junction with the sigmoid colon, and the anus region; 199 cases for laryngeal cancer; 1,480 cases for trachea, bronchus, and lung cancer; 2,928 cases for breast cancer; and 47 cases for melanoma of the skin were registered for the first time.
These indicators mean that on average, 41 people are diagnosed with cancer each day.
According to information from the Committee, the total number of patients with malignant neoplasms registered in medical institutions in 2025 was 74,004.
Of the registered patients, 28,026 were men and 45,978 were women.
By age groups, among the registered patients, 952 were aged 0-17 years, 1,603 were 18-29 years, 5,797 were 30-39 years, 32,452 were 40-59 years, and 33,200 were in the 60 and over age group.
