For five years, in the village of Əyriquyu in Turkey's Nevşehir province, iftar tables have not been set up at homes during Ramadan.

Medianews.az reports that this rule is still being followed now.

Ramadan began on February 19.

Residents break their fast collectively, gathering around a shared table.

This tradition started after the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.

Currently, an iftar meal for about 700 people is prepared every day. Meals are delivered to elderly individuals who cannot join the table, as well as police, soldiers, and healthcare workers on duty.

The imam of the village mosque, İbrahim Aktaş, stated that opening the iftar table together strengthens solidarity among people.

The village headman (local executive authority representative), Nihat Atəş, also said that their goal is to strengthen unity and equality. According to him, cooking iftar meals at home during Ramadan in Əyriquyu village is not allowed.
