On June 19, three matches will take place in the group stage of the XXIII World Football Championship.
Medianews.az reports that the games will start at these hours according to Baku time:
Group B, at 02:00 Canada - Qatar
Group A, at 05:00 Mexico - South Korea
Group D, at 23:00 USA - Australia.
The championship hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico began on June 11. 48 teams participate in the championship. The teams are divided into 12 groups.
The first round of the group stage has already ended and 75 goals were scored in 24 matches. In the first round, Argentine Lionel Messi led the scorers list with 3 goals. He was followed by seven players, each with 2 goals. Five own goals were recorded.
Four teams considered contenders for the championship ended the first round with victories: Germany – Curaçao 7:1, France – Senegal 3:1, Argentina – Algeria 3:0, England – Croatia 4:2.
Another four favorites shared points: Brazil – Morocco 1:1, Netherlands – Japan 2:2, Spain – Cabo Verde 0:0, Portugal – DR Congo 1:1.
The teams finishing first and second in the groups, along with the 8 best-placed third teams, will earn tickets to the round of 16.
When points are equal, the result of the match between the teams is taken as the primary criterion. The other criteria are: goal difference, number of goals scored, fewest official cautions (yellow and red cards), and the team's position in the current FIFA ranking.
The group stage ends on June 28. The round of 16 is set for June 28 - July 4, the round of 8 for July 4-7, the quarterfinals for July 9-12, the semifinals for July 14-15, and the third-place match and final for July 19.
