Initially, Facebook was intended only for Harvard students, but quickly expanded to other universities and since 2006 has become an open network for everyone over the age of 13.
The network was originally named "Thefacebook". In 2005, the "the" part was removed, leaving "Facebook."
At the end of 2004, the "Facebook" company received an investment of 500,000 dollars and in 2005 accelerated its development with several million-dollar investments.
In 2021, the company changed its name to “Meta.”
Currently, Facebook, which belongs to “Meta,” is one of the largest social media platforms in the world.
The current market value of “Meta” company is estimated at over 1.5 trillion dollars.
