A call from Trump to the Taliban: "Return the 7 billion dollars worth of weapons"

US President Donald Trump has once again demanded the return of approximately $7 billion worth of military equipment left in Afghanistan in 2021 by the Taliban.

Medianews.az reports that Trump stated that the said equipment must be returned to the US.

According to the US Department of Defense, billions of dollars' worth of military equipment were left in the country during the withdrawal. This equipment includes vehicles, weapons, and modern military systems, most of which have fallen under Taliban control.

In previous statements, Trump noted that financial aid to Afghanistan could be conditioned on the return of this equipment. This approach is considered part of Washington's pressure strategy on the Taliban.

The Taliban, however, reject this demand, emphasizing that the said military equipment is necessary for the country's security.

Experts believe that US-made weapons have strengthened the Taliban's military capabilities and that the possibility of this equipment falling into the hands of other groups poses a serious risk to global security.

The issue has been discussed internationally again following Trump's recent statements.
