In Turkey, major modernization work has been completed at the "Etimesgut" military airbase, which will henceforth be called "Ankara Airport" and will also serve civil flights.
The official opening of the airport, with the code ANK, is planned to take place on June 15 with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
"Ankara Airport" will carry out both domestic and international flights, which will help distribute the load that may arise at the "Esenboğa" Airport during international events and protocol programs.
The new airport is also planned to be used during the NATO summit to be held in Ankara in July.
According to Turkish authorities, the modernization project of "Etimesgut" Airport was completed in eight months, and all systems and the runway were adapted to international standards./AZERTAC
