The number of deaths in the ongoing protests in Iran has reached 5,848.
Publika.az reports that this information was released by the Iran Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA).
It was also noted that 41,283 people have been detained during the protests.
According to the "Iran International" magazine, more than 36,500 Iranians were killed by security forces during the suppression of protests nationwide on January 8-9. The magazine claims that some injured citizens were even executed in the head while being admitted to hospitals and receiving treatment.
Additionally, other state institutions have obtained different figures from those of security agencies. However, it was noted that due to violations such as the deliberate concealment of murders, even the security agencies do not yet know the exact number of deaths.
