Land subsidence has reactivated in the Agsu pass area.
Medianews.az reports, citing AZERTAC, that recent intense rainfall in the country's mountainous and foothill regions has caused damage on the section of the Baku–Shamakhi–Yevlakh highway passing through the Agsu pass. As a result of the subsidence at the 147th kilometer of the road, deep cracks and depressions have appeared on the asphalt surface.
The subsidence has been mainly recorded in one traffic lane. Consequently, the road’s protection zone and shoulder have become completely unusable. Considering the danger, a section of the dual carriageway has been closed, and vehicle movement is temporarily organized on a single lane.
Warning signs have been placed in the area, and the dangerous section has been marked with special tapes. Traffic is being controlled by the road police, who advise drivers to reduce their speed to a minimum and exercise caution.
It is worth noting that a land subsidence occurred in the mentioned area during the spring months of last year as well.
