Azerbaijanis living in Georgia: The final results of the census have been announced

The National Statistics Office of Georgia has announced the final results of the census conducted in 2024.

Medianews.az reports that the census covered the entire country (Georgian citizens, foreigners permanently residing in the country, and stateless persons), excluding the regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia controlled by occupying regimes.

According to the report, Georgia had a population of 3,929,581 people, with 62.5 percent living in cities and 37.5 percent living in rural areas. The population of the capital Tbilisi is stated as 1,331,485.

The gender distribution was officially recorded as: 47.9 percent men, 52.1 percent women.

According to the statistics, 17.6 percent of the population was aged 65 and over, 62.8 percent aged 15-64, and 19.6 percent were under 15 years old.

It is reported that 3,775,415 people are Georgian citizens, and 133,857 are foreigners permanently residing in the country.

The census identified 84.1 percent Georgians, 6.8 percent Azerbaijanis, 4.3 percent Armenians, with the remaining population representing other ethnic groups.
