Objection from the US government: The belongings of "Titanic" cannot be put up for sale

The US government has expressed its objection to the plans of "RMS Titanic Inc." company to auction more than 100 items recovered from the sunken ship.

According to court documents, the "Associated Press" agency reported.

The items planned to be auctioned include passengers' personal belongings, household and interior samples, as well as paper money. According to the publication, the sale of artifacts contradicts previously obtained agreements. According to those agreements, these findings were only to be exhibited as museum exhibits.

In turn, the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) emphasizes that the commercial sale of the finds in this manner violates the company's legal obligations regarding the area in the Atlantic Ocean where the ship sank.

It should be noted that "RMS Titanic Inc.," which has the rights to investigate the ship that sank in 1912, has been trying for years to sell part of the collection to increase its budget and cover expedition costs. However, these initiatives are repeatedly stopped by courts and cultural heritage protection organizations./oxu.az
