It has been announced that İbrahim Haldun Hilmi, who is accused of being one of the main figures in one of the largest state medical insurance fraud cases in US history – Medicare fraud, has been detained in Turkey.
Medianews.az reports that he was later extradited to the US.
The Director of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Kash Patel, stated that Hilmi is accused of being one of the organizers of a $3.7 billion fraud scheme against the Medicare system. It was noted that he has been wanted since May 2025.
According to Patel, the operation was carried out as a result of joint cooperation between the FBI Miami office, the US Department of Justice, and Turkey’s law enforcement agencies. He stated that after the detained individual is extradited, he will appear in court in Miami.
