Terror operation: 209 people were detained

A large-scale anti-terror operation was conducted in Ankara ahead of the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit to be held on July 7-8.

Medianews.az reports that the Turkish media released information regarding this.

Based on long-term intelligence activities of the Ankara Police Department and the Provincial Gendarmerie Command, operations were simultaneously organized at various addresses in the capital. During the operation, 209 people suspected of being connected to terrorist organizations were detained.

At the 36th NATO Heads of State and Government Summit to be held in the Turkish capital, the participation of many world leaders including US President Donald Trump, UK Prime Minister Kir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Mers is expected.

Security measures in Ankara have been raised to the highest level ahead of the summit. It has been reported that law enforcement agencies will strengthen their activities in control, intelligence, and maintenance of public order throughout the city until the event ends.
