The Central Election Commission of Armenia has approved the Prosecutor General's Office's request to lift the immunity of Robert Kocharyan, the leader of the opposition bloc "Armenia" and the former president of the country, who is a candidate in the parliamentary elections, and to hold him accountable.

Medianews.az reports that Armenian media has released information about this.

"The Central Election Commission has agreed to revoke Robert Kocharyan's immunity and to initiate criminal prosecution. The case pertains to the period from 2004 to 2009, involving abuse of official powers and money laundering," Kocharyan's lawyer told journalists.
