The poverty of thought that pushes successes into danger COMMENTARY

The modern world is characterized by the speed of processes. Sometimes, without even understanding the essence of these processes, we become active or passive participants in them. The situation has reached such a level that sometimes we find ourselves inside an event without even knowing how it happened. It is as if we are all running behind a "bus" whose number we don’t even know, which is rapidly moving away from us as a society: just to catch it, get on, and move away from where we stand. The "superpowers," authors of globalization, have brought the modern world to approximately this situation. The main problem is that because events unfold rapidly, we have no time to think, and as years pass, the number of thinking minds drastically decreases. As such a scene develops, the only hope falsely becomes catching that distancing "bus." Thus, modern society drifts further away every day from free and deep thought. It is no coincidence that deep and interesting ideas have already become deficit products. Thanks to the media, which has turned various occurring events into sheer business through ordinary transportation, it is imposed on society as "analytics." Yes, the scarcity of ideas not only halts prospective development but can also cause degradation. In the sphere of ideology, which preserves the independent "spirit" of the state and society as well as is the pillar of sustainable development, "thought" appears as an inexhaustible source of power. For this very reason, it is impossible to separate "thought" and professional politics. Politics without ideas has a short lifespan, and thoughts without politics have no societal benefit.

Political scientist Asif Adil said these words in an interview with Medianews.az.

He stated that despite the abundance of information, the scarcity of ideas inevitably weakens politics, increases mistakes, and global internet turns politics into a type of activity that enables errors. As a result, we are doomed to witness various "political deformities" from time to time. Due to irresponsible demagogy deprived of deep and professional thought, as well as pompous slogans, the important field of "politics," which plays a crucial role in the development of the state and society, has simply turned into a platform for clarifying relations among individuals. Certainly, the abundance of information by no means implies the existence of deep and independent thought in politics. The rapid and uninterrupted information flow enabled by global internet considerably complicates the production of independent and national ideas. That is why some see their only hope in quickly and thoughtlessly running after the aforementioned "bus" moving rapidly away from us. Young and independent states have been successfully put under a similar regime by authors of global trends. It is no coincidence that despite all efforts, most countries in the world merely spin their wheels like that famous "hare." Therefore, to avoid blindly running after the current and falling into geopolitical traps, independent, national, and deep "thought" must inevitably become an element of political relations. Politics deprived of thought is like shallow tea—it only makes noise and can confuse people. Those who dismiss thought as an empty theory and cut it off from politics actually pave the way for demagogy and emotional manipulations in political relations.

Asif Adil regretfully noted that there are still those who call "thought" an empty theory against the background of technical progress observed in the world. Perhaps this is why contemporary political relations are characterized by social-psychological phenomena: slander, malice, manipulation, incitement, pressure, psychological pressuring, depression, apathy, denial, hatred, bias, misconceptions, stereotypical thinking, emotional tension, unfounded haste, and so forth. All these stem from distorted information and, certainly, where these dangerous phenomena exist, the loss of social-political adequacy is just a matter of time. Demagogy, cheap populism, and emotional manipulations are engraved in the public consciousness through the internet as features of democratic relations. Of course, all these only distance us from the formation process of independent and national thought in politics, and the propagated fake democracy concepts drag political processes into a dead end. In politics marked by scarcity of thought, emotions will definitely dominate, strategic goals will be forgotten, and society’s attention will be directed solely toward various difficulties. For this reason, the fate of the process of forming national political thought and national ideology cannot be entrusted to the limitless internet.

The political scientist emphasized that today uncontrolled internet, including social networks, resembles a wild jungle. In a wild jungle, neither healthy nor functioning democracy can develop. Therefore, thoughtless politics can repeatedly bring us back to the wild jungle or to an even worse cold cave. Every responsible and patriotic citizen who sincerely wishes for the development of the nation and homeland must know that Azerbaijan regularly faces various provocations simply because it does not want to blindly run after the flow. Yes, Azerbaijan, which wants to continue on its own independent path, becomes a target of some forces. However, as a nation and people, we must not forget that precisely because we remained loyal to our independent path, we tamed the "double politics" raging in the world and achieved a historic victory in the 44-day war. No force can steal these feelings, this national joy, and pride from us. We must always protect the achievements obtained and the hopes related to the future. Here, we should definitely recall the words of President Ilham Aliyev: "We showed the whole world and even those peoples suffering from occupation and colonialism today that one must live with confidence. Confidence must never be broken. If confidence is broken, then justice can never triumph."
