From today, the operation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) export oil pipeline is transferred from BP company to "SOCAR Midstream Operations" LLC, a subsidiary of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan.
This was stated to Medianews.az by Ilham Shaban, head of the Oil Research Center.
He noted that the operation of the Sangachal terminal remains unchanged - BP will continue to operate this facility. The shareholder structure of the "BTC Co." company also remains unchanged.
The current throughput capacity of the BTC pipeline, which is 1768 km long, is 1 million barrels per day (50 million tons per year).
The pipeline has eight pumping stations and 98 valve stations.
The first tanker was loaded at the Ceyhan terminal on June 4, 2006.
So far, through the BTC pipeline, in total more than 4.7 billion barrels (approximately 630 million tons) of crude oil have been transported, loaded onto 6271 tankers and delivered to world markets.
