Unsupervised screen usage How does it affect psychology?

Experts state that excessive use of digital technologies can especially turn into addiction in children and young people, and this can lead to psychological problems.

Medianews.az reports that Turkey's ILKHA news agency has released information on this matter.

Although smartphones, social networks, and online games facilitate information and entertainment, uncontrolled use can cause issues such as attention disorders, sleep problems, social isolation, anxiety, and depression.

According to clinical psychologist M. Yasin Çakıroğlu, screen addiction is related to the brain's reward system, and the dopamine release during use reinforces the repetition of this behavior. Over time, this turns into a habit and uncontrolled use.

The specialist also notes that long-term screen use can pave the way for virtual gambling and risky behaviors.

Main steps to fight addiction:

  • Raising awareness: understanding what triggers screen use
  • Regulating daily routine: increasing sleep, exercise, and social activities
  • Getting professional support: psychotherapy and medical assistance when necessary

Experts emphasize that early intervention plays an important role in preventing addiction.
