Junhao Wen, a scientist from Columbia University in the USA, stated that having too little or too much sleep can accelerate aging in the body.

Medianews.az reports that during the study, data from nearly half a million people were analyzed.

According to the results, people who slept 6.4–7.8 hours a day had better health indicators and aged later.

People who slept less or more than this duration were more frequently observed to have depression, diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular, lung, and digestive system diseases.

The scientist emphasized that sleep is of great importance for the healthy functioning of the immune system and organs.
